Honestly, I don’t have a lot to say about this.
It’s an absolute train wreck.
It looks like the kind of crest you’d see in a video game from the 1990s that didn’t want to pay for the rights to use the actual crest or something Vince McMahon is considering for one of the teams the next incarnation of the XFL- which is happening, by the way.
Supposedly this is the result of “6 months of research and 10,000 people consulted,” clearly none of those were Leeds United supporters.
Just to give you some perspective, these are the past Leeds United crests:
They are not all “winners” but the script one and the white rose of Yorkshire ones are classics and the two very similar ones used since the late 1990s are, at least, “very good.” How good does a shirt with the first two on it look?
This may be my favorite football top ever (I own one!), because unlike the new crest, it gets everything RIGHT. Look at it in action (and note the script on the leg of the shorts and socks as well).
As your local millennial might say, “that’s classy AF.”
Shame on you Leeds.
