15 Years On…

St. Joe (1952-2002)

It’s funny how some people just loom larger and larger as the years pass by…

Joe wasn’t a perfect man, but heroes never are- at least not my heroes.

I’m at my wit’s end with the state of the world at the moment and there doesn’t seem to be anybody to cut through the noise and “give us some truth,” which was Joe’s gift.

But I read something recently that made me feel a bit better about the world, something that Henry Rollins said, and it was this:

This is not a time to be dismayed, this is punk rock time.  This is what Joe Strummer trained us for.

He’s right.  We know what we need to do, the question is, will we do it?

    I had not seen/heard Henry’s quote. That is perfect…

It sort of fell into my lap a few months ago when I was looking for something else and I just haven’t been able to shake it. If you’re of “a certain age” it gives you some hope.

How the hell has it been 15 years? Strangely enough, I own nothing by the Clash any longer, but have a Joe and the Mescaleros cd.
