I am back after an all-to-brief four day vacation at my family’s cabin in Maine.
How did it go?
On the first night I slept for 14 hours, not including a 90 minute pre-bedtime “warm-up” nap. On the second night I slept for 12 hours. On the third, I only slept for 8 because there was an early departure the following morning.
This is what happens when you are beyond the reach of the internet, cellphones, light/noise pollution, etc.. and have only the sound of the waves lapping against the shore to help youZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
It takes almost seven hours and 400 miles of driving each way to get there, but it was so worth it that I may be doing this a few times a year going forward.
In the next week look for posts on a resurgent Ross County (he said, hopefully) the eternal do-nothingness of the New England Revolution (who are currently hyping their last match of the season- against Montreal- on social media with the tease of, “Will the Revs win their first away match of the season?!” Tone deaf, much?), the search for Bruce Arena’s replacement, the search for Gordon Strachan’s replacement, the search for Jay Heaps’ replacement, another season of “Old Man Indoor,” and maybe a few “wildcards” as well.
Until then, be well. And get some sleep!
