(This was supposed to post this morning- sorry!)
Well, at least partly.
I still don’t have any free time for the next 3-4 weeks!
On the positive side, the Revolution beat Orlando this weekend to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. The Revs played well, but I don’t think I’ve seen a side as “at sea” as Orlando was for a long, long time.
Scotland beat Lithuania 3-0 to keep their faint World Cup qualification hopes alive. Very briefly, here’s what has to happen going forward: Scotland beat Malta today, England beat Slovakia today, and Slovenia does no better than draw with Lithuania today. That would put Scotland one point behind Slovakia (and at least two ahead of Slovenia) for second place with Scotland and Slovakia meeting in the next round, the winner (assuming there is one) taking sole possession of second place in Group F. Then, in the final round Scotland would have to match Slovakia’s result (which will probably be a win, they play Malta) in their match against Slovenia. If ALL of that happens Scotland MIGHT be one of the second place nations to go through.
Update: Scotland and England both won, but so did Slovenia (by a lot, 4-0 over Lithuania), so the table looks like this:
So Scotland have moved within a point of second place, but Slovenia have to and have a better goal differential. Sigh.
And finally, a week from Thursday I’m going to see the genius behind this classic:
