So Long Liam…

As we all knew (and feared) would happen, striker Liam Boyce has left Ross County F.C. to join former teammate Jackson Irvine at Burton Albion F.C. in the English Championship.  The Northern Ireland international has signed a three year deal with the Brewers and while the financial terms are officially “undisclosed,” it is believed that the deal brought Ross County F.C. something in the neighborhood of £750,000 and that it includes a sell-on fee should Burton not be Boyces final destination.

Time will tell, but Boyce may turn out to be the best player to ever pull on a County shirt, scoring 55 goals in 105 senior appearances for the Staggies and becoming the first player to score a goal for his country while a player for the club.  Whatever the case, he played hard, he played hurt, and he banged in goals with a frequency rarely seen outside of the “big names” that play for the “big clubs” in the Premiership.

Briefly, in other news…

  • County have apparently signed Rangers’ youngster Max Ashmore.  The 19 year old midfielder was released from the Rangers Academy in May.
  • Fraser Fyvie was offered a new contract at Hibs, thought about it, said “no,” decided he was wrong, said “yes,” and Hibs said, “too late.”  He’d probably want to big of a wage, I’m not sure how he’d fit in, but he is available.
