I was just looking at the Scottish Premiership table and I noticed something interesting.
Today’s loss (1-0) to St. Johnstone F.C. dropped Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C. into 9th place. This extended Caley’s winless streak to five matches in all competitions.
If Caley lose to Hamilton Academical F.C. this weekend, they will still be in 9th place, but only by goal differential over Hamilton.
Should this happen and Kilmarnock F.C. beat Aberdeen F.C. (not likely, I know!), Caley would still be in 9th place, but they’d only be two points above the relegation zone.
Thus, it is entirely possible that when Ross County F.C. meet Caley in the Highland Derby March 19 (in Dingwall) a County win could push Caley into the relegation zone proper.
Should this happen only a week after a successful League Cup Final (C’MON YOU STAGGIES!!), it would surely be a “double” that would satisfy each and every County supporter.
