POINT ONE

I guess the big question is, “Was it a red card?”

Yes, it was, but not necessarily for the reason you might think it was.

I’ve watched the play over and over again and I seem to change my mind each time, referee Greg Aitken only got one chance to see the play and he had to see it at full speed, so I give him the benefit of the doubt.  If he’d decided not to make the call that would have been okay too.

POINT TWO

Enough of Dougie Imrie already.

Maybe it’s just that I’ve seen a disproportionate number of Ross County v. Hamilton Accies matches in my life, but he seems to pop up- to County’s detriment- every. damn. time.

Yesterday he drew the foul that saw Jaime Reckord sent off AND he got the goal that brought Hamilton level against a 10 man County.

What a pest.

That said, if he played for County I’d probably love him.

POINT THREE

Not to set aside anything else he’s done in recent weeks, but could it be that in Ian McShane County have found the “New Richard Brittain” when it comes to free kicks?

McShane’s 22 yard curler yesterday was a peach and it just happened to salvage a very important three points for County.

POINT FOUR

As much as it concerns me that Liam Boyce seems to have cooled off and that Craig Curran’s injury woes seem to be dragging on, it has given Alex Schalk a chance to get significant moments in both the league and the cup competitions and he is thriving in it.  He appears to have the same terrier-like qualities as Curran along with a bit of continental “style and panache” to compliment it- it’s a nice combination.

POINT FIVE

Bad weather.

Cut up pitch.

A man down for half the match.

Three points.

Maybe not how you’d draw it up pre-match, but it does give me some confidence that this is a club set up to turn losses into draws and draws into wins, something that hasn’t happened enough in the last two seasons.

POINT SIX

Is Scott Fox the best goalkeeper to wear the County colors?  I used to think it was yesterday’s opponent, Mick McGovern, but I’m starting to think that Fox might be better.  Surely he has to be forcing his way into Gordon Strachan’s field of vision at this point…

POINT SEVEN

Another week down, still in fourth place, only six points from guaranteed safety, still in contention for Europe, still in two cup competitions, and with the next three matches (in the league and cups) against the two bottom most clubs in the league.

GET IN THERE!!
