Well, it looks like the weekend won’t be a total bust.
Ross County F.C. today signed 23 year old Dutch striker Alex Schalk, most recently of Erste Divisive side Go Ahead Eagles.
Schalk has been on trial in Dingwall for several weeks now and has taken part in at least one match with the reserve side. Jim McIntyre and Billy Dodds have been impressed enough that Schalk will join the club for the remainder of the season.
Schalk’s signing was originally seen as “cover” should a County forward be injured, and low and behold, Craig Curran suffered a concussion and has not played for several weeks. This combined with less than stellar form on the part of Brian Graham in recent weeks means that Schalke may be seeing meaningful minutes sooner rather than later.
Ross County return to action on October 16 when they host league leaders Aberdeen F.C. in Dingwall.
