WeeFuse’s Weekend Round-Up

  • On Saturday night the New England Revolution traveled to Portland to play the on-form Timbers and managed to claw out a 0-0 draw to gain a valuable away point- oh, wait, no they didn’t.  They did that for 85 minutes and then gave up two CRAP goals in the final five minutes to Portland’s Fanendo Adi.  Who?!
  • According to government-controlled (duh) North Korean television, the North Koreans defeated Hungary 98-0 at the U2O World Cup.  Well, whatever you’ve got to do to take the focus away from the fact that the North Korean women’s team isn’t at the Women’s World Cup because five of their players tested positive for steroids during the 2011 World Cup. Oops.
  • The Scottish National Team defeat Qatar 1-0 at Easter Road in a friendly match.  If you didn’t watch I can sum it up for you- nobody do anything that might lead to an injury- no slide tackles, no full-out sprinting, etc..  It worked, but it was tough to watch
  • Former Ross County captain Richard Brittain has signed  a three year contract with back-to-back Highland League champions Brora Rangers F.C..  Britain will serve as a player and first team coach for the club while working as an accountant (I believe) in Inverness.  Here’s all you need to know about this deal:  Richard Brittain will FEAST on that level of competition.  He may have 10 goals just on free kicks.
  • Former Ross County manager (and player) Derek Adams is reportedly on the short list of candidates to be the new manager at League Two side Plymouth Argyle.  Good for him…I guess?  Argyle finished seventh in the league last season, so maybe he thinks he can get them promoted to League One and move on from there?  Either way, STAY AWAY FROM COUNTY PLAYERS!!
  • Former England captain Sol Campbell is running to replace Boris Johnson as the Mayor of London, because, why not?

So basically, it’s like if Brittain played for New England and decided to drop down to Real Boston Rams then? 😅

If Real Boston Rams were anywhere near as established as Brora is, of course.

And if the two Boston teams were actually over an hour away from each other. 😉
