The following statement closed an interview given by Ross County midfielder Michael Gardyne to the BBC regarding the mood at County going into the last two matches of the Scottish Premiership season:
Dundee-born Gardyne, who spent four seasons with County before signing a three-year contract with United, could return to Dingwall on a long-term deal next season.
“I’m sure the gaffer will sit down and speak to me and we’ll take it from there,” he said.
“Hopefully we can keep Ross County in the league and keep the team together.”
I may be reading more into this statement than I should, but that sounds like a man who is simply waiting for an agreeable contract to be placed in front of him so that he can sign it and remain at Victoria Park for at least a few more seasons. Wouldn’t that be an announcement to gee up the side and its supporters ahead of Saturday’s match?!
