Ross County F.C. 1 – 0 Dundee F.C.

Today’s win over Dundee F.C. at Victoria Park Global Energy Stadium was best summed up by one of the players who took part in it:

“Ugly” doesn’t mean the team didn’t put in a good shift today- Craig Curran was great, Michael Gardyne was again involved in the scoring, Jamie Reckord pitched in with an unexpected goal.  The point is, sometimes you just have to grind one out and that’s what County did today for their third win on the trot.  Unfortunately and unexpectedly…

…St. Mirren, Partick Thistle, and Motherwell all won their matches.  This was especially galling given that Motherwell beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle for their three points- I can’t remember the last time I wanted Caley to win a match!  Still, County beat a Dundee side that hadn’t lost in their last eight matches and County remains safe from relegation for one more week.  So, while it might be a little bit unnerving, all County really have to do every week from here on is the same thing- just hold the line.

Now that being said, the schedule is beginning to favor County (who still hold a match in hand over St. Mirren, their nearest rival for safety).  Next week they face Patrick Thistle (the team above them in the Premiership table) at home, and the week after that they play a reeling Hamilton Academical, who’ve only picked up two points in the last six weeks.  Did I mention that I’ll be in attendance at New Douglas Park for this match?  As I’ve said several times in the last few weeks, the points are out there for County, they just have to take them.

And now the highlights…such as they are!
