The BBC (and numerous County supporters) are reporting that former Celtic center back and current Scotland U21 player Marcus Fraser has been training with the club in Dingwall with an eye towards signing on for at least the rest of the season.
The 20 year old was most recently on loan at Scottish Championship side Cowdenbeath F.C. where he appeared in 11 league matches and 2 cup matches- he was in the starting line-up for all 13 matches. With that loan now over it is believed that Fraser now has no ties to either club (Celtic or Cowdenbeath) and is available as a free agent, though he still appears on the Celtic website as a first team player.
While at Celtic Fraser played for their U19 player as a 16 year old and was captain of the U20 side before his loan to Cowdenbeath. He made only a few appearances for the senior side (some of that due to injury as he missed most of 2013) after progressing out of Celtic’s youth set-up, but he has been a regular member of Scotland’s youth set-up beginning at the U16 level and appeared for the U21 side as recently as last August. Neither his club or country exploits are any guarantee of success, but both suggest that there is talent on offer with the young man, making County’s interest in him understandable.
More details as they become available.
