…Ross County F.C. was busy singing a player another player ahead of the 2014-2015 Scottish Premiership season!
Today’s prize is Spanish goalkeeper Antonio Reguero. The soon-t0-be 32 year old madrileño came through the youth programs at Real Madrid before a serious knee injury derailed his career resulting in spells at lower league sides Alicante (now defunct), Mazarron (also defunct), Lanzarote, Ferrol, and Gandia before moving on to Scotland. In 2012-2013 he joined Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C. (BOOOOOO!!!!), spending one season there as their first choice goalkeeper before moving on to Kilmarnock F.C. in 2013-2014 where he was unfortunate to find himself competing with former Ross County goalkeeper Craig Samson. Reguero did not play in any league matches and when Samson decided against a move to Motherwell and signed on for two more years at Rugby Park it was time for Reguero to move on.
Reguero will compete with incumbent Mark Brown for the first team position while James McLeod and Peter Tait will deputize in the reserves/youth set-up.
For those keeping track, the signing of Reguero continues the multicultural trend in Dingwall. County now have players from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland (assuming Graham Carey re-signs!), England, Martinique, Spain, and the Netherlands.
