By virtue of their 1-0 win over Hibernian today Ross County F.C. have earned the magical 37 points needed to keep them in the Scottish top flight for a third consecutive season. It was rough going and they left it almost to the end, but in the end they did enough and that’s all that matters.
They’ll close the season out with a match against Partick Thistle (more on them in a moment), but it’s time to start waving “good-bye” to some or all of the players who were with the club on loan and to start speculating on what kinds of players will be coming into the club for the 2014-2015 Premiership season (cough::goalkeeper::cough).
Partick Thistle, Hibernian, and Kilmarnock will now fight it out to see who joins Hearts in the Championship next season. It is still possible that the club that joins Hearts in making the drop will be Hibernian, and wouldn’t that just be the nadir of football in Edinburgh? By my counting it would be the first time that both clubs have been out of the top division at the same time.
Well, whatever happens…
