Ross County F.C. Make an offer to a Yorkie

Probably not Ben Gordon

Probably not Ben Gordon

In addition two signing two Dutch players Ross County F.C. have also made a contract offer to defender Ben Gordon.  Gordon is a product of both the Leeds United and Chelsea youth systems and most recently played with Yeovil Town in League One.  The 22 year old never made a first team appearance for Leeds or Chelsea and spent his entire four year stint at Chelsea out on loan to- deep breath- Tranmere Rovers, Kilmarnock, Scunthorpe United, Peterborough, Kilmarnock (again), and Birmingham City before moving to Yeovil.  This may look like a career headed in the wrong direction, but a closer look reveals that this is not the case.  All of his loans were either to SPL sides (he won the League Cup at Kilmarnock), top League One sides (Yeovil were promoted to the Championship while he was on loan there), or Championship sides.  Gordon has also been a regular in England’s youth set-up since he was 15 and played for the U20 national team as recently as 2011.  Throw in a few injuries an he is, in his own words, a player who needs to “put 80-100 matches on my CV.”  In short, if County sign him and he does prove out they may be able to move him on in a couple of years for a considerable payday.  Fine, fine. A picture…

Gordon has already been north to meet with Derek Adams but notes that he has drawn plenty of interest since becoming a free agent at the end of the 2013-2014 season.  I’ll keep you posted…
