Dunfermline Athletic F.C. announce a few minutes ago that they have voluntarily placed the club into administration. This was made possible because, while the club could not pay its debt, a group of supporters was able to put together sufficient funds to pay an administrator to guide the club through a financial reorganization. Most importantly, this move means that the club will continue to exist in some form.
If there is a downside to going into administration it is that the club will likely be docked at least 10 points, which would drop them to seventh place in the First Division table. Luckily that will still have them four points ahead of entering into the relegation playoffs (Airdrie United have been awful this season and will likely take the automatic relegation spot). Luckily for the club the season is almost over and they’ll likely stay up.
