As hard as it is to believe, it was a year ago today that I put up my first tentative posts here at the Tanner Ba’. I didn’t “officially” open the doors until this past January but it is important to me not to let today slide by without thanking those who were here from the very beginning- as stilted and awkward as it may have been.
I don’t think it’s necessary to name names (you know who you are), but nevertheless, to those that have been with me since the old DUAN days- thank you. To those who followed me here from Avoiding the Drop- thank you. To those of you who’ve come aboard here in the last year- thank you. Those of you in that last group have no personal ties to me or my work so I am particularly appreciative of your support and happy that you’ve found something here to hold your interest- I’ll do my best to continue to hold your interest in the future. Finally, to the two of you I’ve been fortunate enough to meet in person- thank you. I hope there will be an opportunity to meet more of you in the future.
It is probably apocryphal, but supposedly the average lifespan of a blog is one calendar year, so if I didn’t already I will surely consider every day beyond today as a bonus. For that, I thank you.

Happy Birfday! *mwah*
Happy (unofficial) Birthday, tanner ba’!
That’s all well and good, but where are the “Tannies”? The awards to all things Ross County? Staggie Goal of the Year? Ross County Manager of the Year? Young Staggie of the Year? County Player of the Year? New County Player of the Year?
Well, the good news is that THIS TIME I actually wrote your idea down and found an appropriate trophy to present to the winners. Now all I have to do is decide when I’m going to award them: now (real 1 year anniversary), at the end of 2012, on the “official” 1 year anniversary (Jan. 6), or at the end of the 2012-2013 seasons…
