Charles Green, chairman of the Rangers Newco, has said and done a virtually endless list of stupid things since he became involved in Scottish football, but today he topped himself. Today in a rambling string of paranoid nonsense about how the clubs of the Scottish Premier League were pressured into voting against allowing his “club” to enter the league*- against all rule and reason involved in the situation- he allowed the name of Ross County F.C. to pass his lips. You can read his full remarks here, but this is the important part:
Why, for example, would Ross County spend all their life-time trying to get into the Premier League to find Rangers were not there? It’s inconceivable.
Allow me to translate that for you: ”Much to my surprise we couldn’t buy or bully our way out of our situation and as a result we got exactly what was coming to us, we’re currently in fourth place in the Third Division and could drop out of the playoff promotion spot if we lose points to Clyde this weekend, Celtic are getting a lot of press because they’re playing in Europe and we’re hosting Montrose F.C. this weekend, and a couple of days ago we were dumped out of the Ramsden’s Challenge Cup by Queen of the South F.C., a Second Division club who finished 47(!) points behind Ross County in the First Division last season.”
Here’s the thing, Charlie: Nobody in Dingwall or anywhere else cares whether you’re in the Scottish Premier League or not- even your own supporters wanted to go to the Third Division and start over! Maybe, if things break the right way we’ll meet your club in a cup competition in the coming years and we’ll be able to serenade you with what I’m sure will be our new favorite chant- ”We’re in the SPL and you’re no, We’re in the SPL and you’re no…”
Shut it, Chuckie.
*And they were, by their supporters!
That guy’s so full of shite he should run for office over here.
