Highlights: Ross County F.C. 0 – 0 Aberdeen F.C.

Other interesting tidbits from this match:

  • The Ginger Pele earned that penalty kick- I can’t believe it wasn’t given.
  • That crowd of 14,000 contained 1,200+ Ross County supporters- well done!
  • “Jimmy” Scott should have scored.
  • Marc Fitzpatrick…oh, son.  If you can’t shoot with both feet you might not be SPL quality.

    GO GO STAGGIES!

Actually, I find it amazing when watching the top leagues and CL matches how many players can’t shoot with both feet. I couldn’t cross with my left for all the whiskey in Ireland, but I could either put a well struck but inaccurate, or mildly struck and accurate shot on goal. These guys are 1,000x better than I ever was.

I shall always cherish the final practice before the start of my final year when we had our 15 minute scrimmage and the assistant coach for some reason stuck me on left wing. I’m fed the ball, take it down the line….and realize my pacing is entirely backward and I’m set to center the ball off the field and onto the tennis courts. Stop, try to pivot and cross with my left, fall down and the ball rolls about 5 feet. From across the field I hear the head coach yell,

“What the hell are you doing on the LEFT side, Stork? Switch with Flash before you kill yourself.”

Yeah, it’s moments like those when you know your career is done. hehe

I would struggle to score a PK with my left foot and no keeper, but two of my three* high school goals I scored were with my left foot- because I just reacted. If I’d had time to think I probably would have ballooned both of them high and wide- or kicked the ground and missed the ball entirely!

*In my defense, I did have a pile of assists!
