Ross County F.C. 1 – Coventery City F.C. 0

Steven Craig

Perhaps it wasn’t as impressive as during the the 1998-1999 season when then Third Division Ross County defeated Premier League Coventry City, 4-2 and send Gordon Strachan and his charges backs down south in a frothing rage, but tonight’s defeat of a League One Coventry City side by Premier League side Ross County was still a sweet one!

The match, played at Clachnacuddin’s Grant Street Park in Inverness, was all even until only minutes from the end when County striker Steven Craig (pictured) scored the match winner.

Currently undefeated in the preseason, County’s next preseason match will be this Saturday when they travel to Borough Briggs in Elgin to play Third Division side Elgin City F.C..  City are managed by former Ross County youth player Ross Jack and feature former Ross County players Barry Wilson (whose father Bobby managed County), Mark Nicolson, Steven Edwards, Daniel Moore, and Craig Gunn.  This is all assuming that Wilson didn’t retire (he’s 40) and that all of the other players returned to the club!
