I know it has only been two matches and that one of the losses involved a very early red card to a defender, but I don’t like what I’m reading about the New England Revolution.
I’m sure I’ll have more to say when I get home and have a chance to delve a little deeper into things.
No offense, but after seeing the Revs in person on Saturday, I can confirm that they are a total joke. I can also confirm that the red card was a bit harsh, probably a yellow in my book, but it wasn’t going to stop the Revs back line from getting owned, their midfield from chasing shadows, or their “forward” from not getting any service or doing anything productive. KC donkey-stomped them from the opening whistle. It would’ve been 3-0 at least at even strength, and only a couple nice plays by Matt Reis kept it from being 4, 5, or 6-0 with KC a man up. Shalrie Joseph looks totally ambivalent. Feilhaber still spends more time whining than playing, and who can blame him with his surroundings. Reis is a decent GK wasted on a terrible team, not a single person on the backline looked worthy of MLS, and the team couldn’t string 2 passes together all night. It’s even funnier to think they cut Seth Sinovic at the beginning of last year. He tore the starting left back job away from Michael Harrington, who had been KC’s minutes-played leader for 2009 and 2010, and Sinovic burned NE for an assist and two more indirect assists on Saturday. Great night and atmosphere for us Sporting fans, truly abysmal stuff from the Revs.
